Terms of Service
The terms on which we provide accounting, tax and advisory services, and what each of us is responsible for.
01About these terms
These terms govern your use of this website and, where we have agreed to act for you, the professional services provided by OwnYourCFO ("OwnYourCFO", "we", "us").
Where we issue a separate engagement letter for your work, that letter sets out the specific scope and fees, and it takes precedence over these terms wherever the two differ.
02Our services
We provide bookkeeping, VAT and Corporate Tax compliance, financial reporting, and outsourced CFO and advisory services to businesses operating in the United Arab Emirates.
We act as independent professional advisers. Information on this website is general in nature and is not advice on your specific circumstances. No client relationship is created by reading this site, by submitting an enquiry, or by an initial consultation.
03Independence from the Federal Tax Authority
We are an independent firm of accountants. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of the Federal Tax Authority or any other UAE government body.
You are free to deal with the Federal Tax Authority directly yourself. Our fees are for professional services only and are entirely separate from any government fee, tax or penalty, which remain your responsibility.
04Scope of an engagement
Each engagement covers only the work described in the engagement letter or written scope we agree with you. Work outside that scope — additional periods, additional entities, backlog clearance, audit support, or responding to an authority's enquiry — is quoted and agreed separately before it begins.
05Your responsibilities
Our work depends on what you give us. You agree to:
- Provide complete, accurate and timely records, documents and information.
- Tell us promptly about anything that affects your tax or accounting position, including changes in ownership, activity, licence status or related-party arrangements.
- Review anything we prepare for you before it is filed, and confirm you are satisfied with it.
- Make any payment due to an authority by its deadline.
- Maintain your own copies of the records you provide to us.
We are not responsible for consequences arising from information that was incomplete, inaccurate, or provided too late for us to act on.
06Fees and payment
Fees are agreed in advance, either as a fixed fee for a defined piece of work or as a recurring monthly fee. Prices shown on this website are indicative starting points and may vary with the complexity, volume and condition of your records.
Unless agreed otherwise, recurring fees are payable monthly in advance and fixed fees are payable before filing. We may suspend work on an account where fees remain unpaid.
07Deadlines and penalties
We will work to meet the statutory deadlines that apply to you, provided we receive what we need from you in reasonable time. We will tell you clearly what we need and by when.
Where a deadline is missed because records were not provided in time, because information given to us was inaccurate, or because a payment was not made by you, any resulting penalty or interest remains your responsibility.
08Confidentiality
We treat all client information as confidential and disclose it only where you have authorised it, or where we are required to do so by law or by a competent authority. This obligation continues after the engagement ends.
09Limitation of liability
We provide our services with the reasonable skill and care expected of a professional accounting firm. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Subject to that, our total liability arising from an engagement is limited to the fees paid to us for the specific work giving rise to the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including loss of profit, business or opportunity.
We are not liable for the decisions you take based on our work; advisory output is intended to inform your judgement, not to replace it.
10No guarantee of outcome
We do not guarantee any particular result, including the approval of an application, the outcome of an audit or enquiry, the availability of a relief or exemption, or a specific tax position. Tax legislation and authority practice change, and can change with retrospective effect.
11Intellectual property
The content, design and materials on this website belong to us and may not be copied or reproduced without permission. Templates, models, dashboards and working papers we create remain ours, though you may of course use the outputs we deliver for your own business purposes.
12Ending an engagement
Either of us may end an ongoing engagement by giving 30 days' written notice. On termination, fees for work performed up to that date remain payable, and we will provide your records back to you in a reasonable format.
We may end an engagement immediately where continuing would place us in breach of a legal or professional obligation.
13Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates, and the courts of the UAE have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.
